Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain can make sleep, reaching, and everyday life difficult. Whether it is a rotator cuff issue, bursitis, or arthritis, we focus on finding the real source and calming it with image-guided, minimally invasive care.

Overview

The shoulder is one of the most mobile joints in the body, which also makes it vulnerable. Rotator cuff tendons can fray, the bursa can become inflamed, and the joint itself can develop arthritis.

Our workup starts with a thorough exam and, when needed, imaging. That way the treatment plan targets what is actually driving the pain rather than chasing symptoms.

Symptoms & causes

The location and timing of your shoulder pain tells us a lot about what is going on.

Pain when reaching overhead, behind the back, or across the body
Night pain, especially when lying on the affected side
Weakness when lifting, pouring, or holding objects away from the body
Clicking, catching, or stiffness in the shoulder joint

When to see a doctor

Seek care if…

Call us if the shoulder comes out of socket, if you cannot lift the arm after an injury, or if there is swelling, warmth, or fever around the joint. These signal injury or infection that needs urgent care.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an MRI before treatment?

Sometimes. A thorough exam can often point us to the right injection. If we suspect a structural tear or surgical issue, we will get imaging first.

How long until I can lift again after an injection?

Most patients can return to light activity the next day. For rotator cuff work, we usually suggest a few days of easier motion before heavier lifting, and we coordinate with physical therapy.

Will this help if I eventually need shoulder surgery?

Yes. Controlling pain and inflammation before surgery usually makes rehab afterward go more smoothly. For many patients, the injection plan delays or avoids surgery entirely.
